Collapsible Brass Pirate Telescope with Wooden Box – Spyglass

Whether pacing the quarterdeck through rolling swells or scanning treelines from a garrison watchtower, early sighting is the surest defence against ambush. During the Age of Sail, no captain or master gunner dared weigh anchor without a brass glass close at hand to pick out enemy colours before cannon smoke choked the horizon.

Turned upon the workbench by Mythrojan from solid polished brass, this collapsible spyglass balances authentic seventeenth-century maritime style with practical field utility. Available in 6-inch and 9-inch lengths—either bare polished metal or clad in protective black or natural leather—the sliding tubes retract seamlessly to stow away inside a haversack or sea chest. The optical lenses provide clear, basic magnification, ideal for scouting opposing lines, signalling across camp, or immersing yourself in nautical living history. Each telescope arrives secured within a fitted hardwood box carved with an anchor motif, guarding the glass and brass against crushing blows during transit.

To achieve proper focus in the field, extend each draw-tube completely, bring the eyecup to your brow, and slowly slide the innermost section inward until your quarry sharpens into view. For longevity on arduous campaigns, keep the sliding brass wiped clean of salt spray and road grit with a soft linen rag, and stow the piece within its timber casket between watches. Avoid harsh weather without drying the casing, and let the brass develop a weathered campaign patina that marks true service under sail.
