Privacy & Your Peace of Mind

At the heart of person-centred counselling is a relationship built on trust. Protecting your privacy and being transparent about how I handle your information is a vital part of that trust.

This policy explains how I collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use my website or get in touch with me.

Your Information & How I Use It

When you reach out to me:
If you use the contact form on this website or send me an email, you are sharing details like your name and email address. I only use this information to respond to your enquiry and talk to you about the support I can offer. I will never use your details for marketing or share them with third parties.

When we work together:

If we decide to move forward with sessions, I keep the basic details necessary for our appointments (such as your name, phone number, and email). I also keep brief, anonymous notes from our meetings. These notes are "de-identified," meaning they do not contain your name or any details that could identify you to anyone else.

Your Right to Confidentiality

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our work. Everything we discuss remains private. The only exceptions to this are legal or ethical requirements (such as if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others), which I will always discuss with you clearly during our first session.

How Your Data is Protected

I take the security of your information very personally.

  • Digital Safety: This website is protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication. Any backups are stored in high-security, encrypted environments.
  • Paper Safety: Any physical records are kept securely under lock and key.
  • Mobile Safety: If I have your number in my phone for scheduling, it is protected by biometric security (fingerprint/face ID).

How Long I Keep Your Information

I only keep your information for as long as is necessary to provide you with care or to meet professional insurance requirements (which usually require records to be kept for 7 years). After this time, your data is securely destroyed.

Your Rights

You are in control of your data. At any time, you can:

  • Ask to see the information I hold about you.
  • Ask me to correct any mistakes.
  • Request that I delete your information (where I am not legally required to keep it for insurance or tax purposes).

Cookies & Analytics

To make this website work as effectively as possible, I use Google Analytics. This helps me understand how people find the site. Crucially, your IP address is anonymised—this means I can see how the site is being used, but I can never see who is using it.

Questions?

If you have any questions at all about how I handle your privacy, please don't hesitate to ask. You can reach me at ju************@***il.com.
