FAQs

Combat & Re-enactment Suitability
  • Are your swords and weapons blunt or sharp?
Unless explicitly stated otherwise in the product description, all our combat swords are provided blunt with rounded tips suitable for re-enactment, sparring, or stage combat.
  • Is your armour suitable for full-contact combat (e.g., Buhurt / HEMA)?
Steel gauges vary across our ranges (typically 1.2mm to 1.6mm / 18–16 gauge). Product descriptions state whether an item is designed for LARP, living history re-enactment, or heavy full-contact combat.
  • Are your garments historically accurate?
Our living history and re-enactment ranges are tailored after authentic historical patterns, materials, and weaves. Check product specifications for historical period details.
Sizing & Fit
  • How do I measure myself for gambesons and armour?
Always take your chest, waist, and torso measurements while wearing the undergarments you plan to fight or re-enact in (such as an arming double or tunic). Armour fits differently when worn over padding.
  • What if my measurements fall between two sizes?
For padded gear and gambesons, we generally recommend sizing up to allow full mobility in combat. For steel armour pieces, check our Size Guide or contact us with your exact chest and height dimensions.
  • Can armour pieces be adjusted or tailored?
Most plate and leather armour includes adjustable leather straps. Minor fitting adjustments can often be made by tightening or loosening straps or adding additional holes.

Maintenance & Care
  • How do I maintain steel armour to prevent rust?
Wipe down steel pieces after every use to remove moisture and sweat. Apply a thin coat of mineral oil, gun oil, or Renaissance Wax before storing in a dry environment.
  • How should I clean padded garments and tunics?
Most gambesons and heavy cotton/wool tunics should be hand-washed or dry-cleaned to preserve padding and dye colors. Always refer to the care label included with your garment.

Orders, Delivery & Collection
  • How long will my order take to arrive?
Standard UK delivery typically takes 2–4 business days for in-stock items. Custom-made or tailored pieces may require longer lead times (detailed on individual product pages).
  • Can I pick up my order in person?
[Insert policy: e.g., "We operate primarily online, but order collections from our Driffield/Beverley locations can be arranged by prior appointment." OR "We operate strictly online with no physical counter service."]
  • What is your return policy?
We accept returns on unused, unaltered items within 14 days of receipt. Custom-made gear or tailored items are non-refundable unless defective.
