"A warrior who neglects his shins soon learns the bitter cost of an unshielded strike." Osric, Keeper of the Hearth & Forge

Rooted in fourteenth and fifteenth-century harness designs, these three-plate segmented greaves?historically known as schynbalds?guard the lower limb without compromising necessary stride on foot or horseback. Hand-riveted from durable 16-gauge mild steel, the overlapping plates articulate smoothly with the movement of your legs, granting essential protection whether on the tournament field, at a reenactment garrison, or during intensive LARP engagements.

Each greave presents a polished, reflective lustre across its curved surface, mirroring the martial splendour demanded by men-at-arms of old. Beneath the steel plates, robust natural leather straps fitted with steel buckles allow you to adjust the fit across a broad range of calf sizes. For genuine battlefield comfort and correct posture, these plates are best fastened snugly over padded woollen stockings or arming hosen, preventing binding against the bone.

Steel requires vigilance against the elements. After every hard muster or damp campaign, wipe the metal clean with a dry cloth and apply a light coat of protective oil to deter rust and preserve the metalwork. Attend likewise to the supple harness leather: treat the straps with dedicated dressing to ensure they never dry or split under strain. Store your armour in a cool, dry armoury or chest, primed and ready for the next campaign.
