?A warrior on campaign knows the value of balance; if you seek the bearing of a knight without the crushing burden of battle-weight iron, your search ends here.? Osric, Keeper of the Hearth & Forge
From the twelfth through the fourteenth century, the mail hauberk served as the primary defence across European muster fields. This harness faithfully recreates that classic silhouette with full-length sleeves and a mid-thigh drop. Handcrafted ring by ring from 16-gauge mild steel, each 10 mm round ring is set into the time-honoured European 4-in-1 pattern, yielding natural movement and historical hang.
Take heed: these rings are butted, not riveted. This construction provides ease of wear during prolonged gatherings, theatrical productions, and LARP events, yet it is strictly non-protective. Do not subject this harness to steel combat or hard concussive impact.
We offer this mail in two distinct treatments from our workshop. The blackened finish delivers a darkened, campaign-worn countenance suited to seasoned rangers or grim mercenaries, needing merely a light oiling after use. Alternatively, the zinc-polished treatment yields a lustrous silver gleam reminiscent of tournament panoply, providing corrosion resistance without the need for constant grease.
Store your hauberk dry, draped over an arming doublet or padded gambeson to assess the fit across your shoulders. Minor variances across the links are the honest hallmarks of hand assembly.
