Medieval Cotton Arming Points with Brass Aiglets, Set of 5

£10.31

A dependable set of five lacing cords, crafted from robust black woven cotton and finished with solid brass aiglets. Measuring approximately 45 centimetres, these arming points ease the threading of tight eyelets while safeguarding cord ends from wear and fraying. Ideal for securing doublets, gambesons, hose, shoes, and pouches during campaign or tourney, delivering authentic historical utility.

SKU: 7450-Parent Categories: ,

"A man?s plate and doublet are only as steadfast as the cords that bind them; let your ties fail, and your defence crumbles upon the field." Osric, Keeper of the Hearth & Forge

Before the common use of cast buttons, garments of the Middle Ages and Renaissance relied upon sturdy arming points and cords. This set of five hand-crafted laces replicates that indispensable medieval design. Each cord is woven from flexible yet hard-wearing black cotton, measuring approximately 45 centimetres (17.7 inches) in length, providing ample reach for fastening jerkins, arming garments, gambesons, sleeves, and hose, or securing camp pouches and leather gear.

Fitted to the ends are solid brass aiglets. These metal points serve a vital practical purpose: they prevent fraying under harsh field conditions and allow you to quickly lace through eyelets, leather holes, and loops without snagging. Over seasons of use and exposure to air, the brass naturally develops a distinguished patina, bestowing the authentic appearance of seasoned campaign kit.

Because each lace is prepared by hand, subtle variations in the brass finish and cotton weave are natural markers of bespoke craft. To maintain your lacing points, store them in a dry garrison chest when not in service and avoid prolonged exposure to damp. Wipe the brass tips clean with a soft cloth after a hard muster; you may let the metal age naturally into a deep field bronze, or polish it bright according to your station.
